With a number of Skyscanner impersonations over the years, we want to remind travelers how to spot an online scam.
Scams about working for Skyscanner
We have recently seen an increase in job scams from people or websites impersonating Skyscanner. The scammers usually make unsolicited contact with people via Telegram or WhatsApp, asking them to complete tasks on a fake page carrying Skyscanner's name and logo, in return for commission. Sometimes they will even pay people a small amount to gain trust, before asking the victim to pay them money to earn a higher commission. In other instances, we have seen our recruitment team members impersonated to try to win trust.
- Skyscanner does not offer any employment in this way. We list all genuine Skyscanner jobs on https://www.skyscanner.net/jobs/
- Skyscanner will never send you unsolicited messages via Telegram or WhatsApp.
- Skyscanner will never ask people for money at any point during the recruitment process.
- All genuine Skyscanner pages will have 'skyscanner' in the URL, followed by the local domain (e.g. skyscanner.net, skyscanner.co.in, skyscanner.fr, etc.). Variations of that (such as 'skyscanneronline', 'skyscannerworking' or 'skyscanagent' will never be genuine.
- All official Skyscanner recruitment emails end with @skyscanner.net - impersonators may use a similar domain so please double-check.
Flight bookings scams
We have also seen instances whereby fraudsters impersonate Skyscanner to trick people into paying for non-existent flights.
- Skyscanner is a travel search engine, not a travel agent - so we don't take bookings or payments at all.
- We would also never call, email or WhatsApp anyone to complete their booking or request payment.
- Look out for emails from email addresses that are not using Skyscanner company domains e.g. Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo, usa.com, etc.
- Be vigilant about ads promoted on social media (particularly Facebook and Instagram) that offer cheap flights and collect your contact details.
What should I do if I think I might have fallen victim to a scam?

- Contact your bank to see if they can help with regards to a charge-back or to cancel the transfer as soon as possible.
- If you're in the UK, you should also report fraudulent activity to Action Fraud.
- If you're in India, report the incident via the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal.
